BoudiccaBritish, founded 1997

The London-based design duo, Zowie Broach and Brian Kirkby, named their company Boudicca after the English warrior queen. Boudicca began in 1997 as purely artistic expression, showing in art galleries and other exhibition spaces for the first four years. In 2001, Broach and Kirkby were invited by the British Fashion Council to present officially during London Fashion Week. Boudicca is 'anti-mass' and produces garments in limited quantities, offering collections that are deeply designed and beautifully executed in the finest European fabrics, with serious attention paid to the fit and finish of each garment. There is a masculine/feminine tension in their work that is translated through superbly constructed tailoring. Boudicca presents during haute couture week in Paris as an invited guest member, and also designs and produces ready-to-wear collections. Broach and Kirkby continue to keep one foot in the world of art, giving regular talks at the Tate Modern in London and collaborating on projects with various artists, such as Cindy Sherman and film director Mike Figgis.
