Norma Kamali’s iconic “Sleeping Bag” coat helped her to build a fashion company during the 1970s. The success of Kamali’s original coat was largely due to its innovative use of thermal insulation to guard against extreme cold weather. Since its introduction, variations on the stuffed, or “puffer,” coat have become fixtures of urban winterwear.
