Stella Novarino states, “For me, fashion is very conceptual: I want to share ideas and tell stories through my work. To create a sort of marriage between my Italian background and international patterns … to produce something that has a mixed origin … something local that aspires to the global.” This dress is inspired by Guatemalan jaspe cloth and features radishes, a popular national dish. This design exemplifies the networks Novarino creates between cultures of the Global South, not only through her inspiration, but more importantly through sustainable relationships with skilled local textile producers.
