“As anybody who owns a beloved old pair old blue jeans will tell you, you just don’t throw them away when they’re frayed and tattered,” stated the New York Times in 1973. “Connoisseurs insist that denim, like wine, improves with age.” The article suggested inserting panels of fabric to transform worn jeans into a skirt, a technique exemplified here.
