By 1815, embellished silk dresses prevailed for evening, often in pastel colors. Decoration on the simple, neo-classical silhouette was usually concentrated on the sleeves and hem. Seventeenth-century inspired ribbon trim at the bottom of the skirt shows the emerging influence of Romanticism.
