Reception dresses were worn to formal afternoon events, such as government functions and private parties. They had low necklines, long trains, and an ornate combination of fabrics intended for public admiration. The front skirt of this dress features tiered swags accented by beaded fringe and delicate seed bead embroidery that is also found on the richly patterned brocade.
DescriptionBodice of wedding gown of cream / beige silk brocade in leaf pattern; V neck, edged with cream grosgrain and beige lace ruffles, ends in cream satin bow; satin square collar in back; 3/4 sleeves with scalloped cuff filled in with lace, trimmed with satin bow; button front lace filled tabs trimmed in pearl bugle bead fringe; swallowtail back seams split over bustle filled in with pleated satin. Matching skirt with full train and bustle ties; short tablier of satin, shirred in front, gathered over hips to back, edged in pearls with pearl / bugle bead fringe; satin swag from center front to back hem covered in net embroidered in blue bugle beads; vertical bands cross in front over cream grosgrain panel; hem slashed, filled in with pleated satin and pearl / bugle bead fringeCollections
