This structured jacket follows the lines of 1940s tailoring, with a strong padded shoulder. Jean Paul Gaultier has used elements of the past in several collections. According to biographer Colin McDowell, Gaultier cited “forties elegance,” especially as seen in French cinema, as a major source of inspiration for both men’s and women’s wear.
