The pink triangle was originally used in Nazi concentration camps to identify gay men. (Apparently, pink was then associated with sex workers.) In 1987, the AIDS Coalition To Unleash Power adopted it as a symbol of gay activism. Pink has continued to be associated with the LGBTQ community and with queer sexuality.
