Gift of Carolina Herrera, Ltd.
Object number2005.41.1
Carolina Herrera wore this gown to the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala in 2004. Its styling is a variation on the designer’s signature personal look – a simple, white, button-front shirt. The simplicity of the bodice is contrasted by the long, elegant skirt. Gathered at the sides and pleated in back to create fullness, the skirt’s folds are reminiscent of a bustle. This eclecticism and refined, classic quality of design are typical of Herrera’s contemporary approach to glamour.
