Salvatore Ferragamo introduced his “F” heel in 1947. The style was a more curvaceous form of the wedge heel that Ferragamo had pioneered during the previous decade. The F heel was paired with various shoe types, but the Invisible sandals, made with fishing line, were exceptional. Wedge-heeled shoes have since cycled in and out of fashion several times.
