Vivienne Tam collaborated with the Chinese artist Zhang, Hong Tu, who created a series of comical images of Mao, to develop her Mao collection. Tam's goal was to present Mao's human side in contrast with the seriousness with which Mao has been traditionally represented. In this piece, all of the images of Mao: "Owl Mao," "Mao So Young," "Psycho Mao," "Holy Mao," and "Miss Mao" are represented.
