Maggy Rouff was born into the business of fashion: she was the daughter of the proprietors of the Parisian couture house Drécoll. Rouff designed sportswear for Drécoll prior to opening her own house in 1929. The New York Times praised the beautiful drapery of her late 1930s “romantic Greek evening gowns [which] glorify the very feminine, supple, amphora figure.”
