Here, Claire McCardell makes a feminine play on the denim jacket. She has lightened the color, slanted the front pockets, and cropped the length, cinching it at the waist. She completes the piece with a deep cut V-neck, punctuated by a center zip. While referencing men’s workwear staples created by Lee and Levi’s®, McCardell’s jacket also immediately recalls the women’s workwear blouses from the 19th century.
