Antonio Lopez’s illustrations and photographs demonstrate the fine art qualities of these “commercial” mediums. Lopez’s fashion illustrations – a mainstay of Women’s Wear Daily, Vogue, and Andy Warhol’s Interview, which Lopez designed – were particularly influential, capturing the energy, sexuality, and glamour of 1970s and 1980s New York and Paris. In his t-shirt dress, his graphic style is applied directly to clothing, turning its wearer into a postmodern fashion plate.
