The stability provided by platform shoes was ideal during the 1940s, when many women began to spend more time walking or taking public transportation. Yet some platform styles—such as this brightly colored pair, featuring a one and a half-inch platform and a four-inch heel—were clearly designed to be playful and provocative. Creations by Henri specialized in styles for the theater and entertainment industries. Although Henri shoes were flashy, they were also beautifully crafted.
