The silk jersey of this jumpsuit skims the curves of the wearer’s body and facilitates freedom of movement. The body is even more exposed by the size of the cutouts. Halston’s minimalist fashions—fluid and deceptively simple in construction—were favored by the trendsetting crowd at Studio 54. His close friend and mentor, the dancer and choreographer Martha Graham, wrote that “Halston understood the drape of fabric and the body’s movement beneath it; he understood elegance.”
