After the Peacock Revolution, male dressing returned to its customary staid appearance. However, moments of exuberance did infrequently break away from prevailing trends as with the gender-bending styles of Jean-Paul Gaultier, whose fetishized suits for men appropriated women's dressmaking techniques, and Vivienne Westwood, whose tartan suit with kilt is seen here. Westwood has often been drawn to traditional symbols of British history, such as tartan and tweed, yet the end result is far from conventional.
