Millinery was often an essential component of Paul Poiret’s inventive ensembles. During the 1920s, many of his hats were designed by Madeleine Panizon, who had studied at Poiret’s school of textile arts. Inspired by the great designer’s interest in Eastern cultures, Panizon was especially adept at creating variations on headdresses, turbans, and cloches.
