The name of this evening dress, Chimère, suggests an elusive fantasy. It capture’s fashion’s romantic mood in the heady yet foreboding pre-war atmosphere in which the dress was designed. The front and back panels are a fanciful outline of the feminine silhouette and this curvilinear shape is echoed in the full skirt and feather-like motifs of the metallic brocade.
