Gloves were an essential accessory throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Examples made from leather such as kid and chamois contracted after washing, and the use of a glove stretcher—inserted into each finger and gently opened to expand the leather—enabled a proper fit.
DescriptionSheffield plated silver glove stretcher; finger stretcher hinged toward handles; handles molded in elaborate scroll patternCollections
