Margiela’s “bustier” is crafted from layers of street posters using a pâpier-maché-like technique. Similar to the designer’s painted boots, the bustier highlighted the process of disintegration when worn on the body. While Margiela recycled scraps of paper to create his garment, the design references the less earth-friendly trend for disposable paper clothing during the 1960s.
