“No dainty woman wishes to appear untidy or unlovely at any hour of the day,” stated Vogue in 1912. The magazine suggested boudoir caps to keep women’s hair in place while they slept, and to maintain a neat appearance in the morning. The caps also prevented the inconvenience and expense of additional trips to the hair salon.
