One of the best examples of Grès's effective use of simple geometric shapes is this at-home ensemble comprised of a simple, tubular skirt, on top of which is a tunic that, hip-length in front, falls nearly to the floor in back. Enface, the tunic has a flattened, planar appearance while behind, it dips dramatically to form a deep cowl down the length of the body. The drama of the tunic belies that fact that it is made from a very simple rectangular pattern.
