Emanuel Ungaro worked for Balenciaga and Courrèges before starting his own label in 1965, and the influence of both designers can be seen in his work. Women’s Wear Daily was first to report on the new couture house. The magazine hoped that Ungaro would be “the force to cement the weaker forces tearing Paris apart.”
