Label Text:This dress features an early Lurex® matelassé, a jacquard-woven textile with twisted crepe yarns that pucker to create raised, quilted effects. Lurex®, invented in 1946, is a yarn of aluminum between plastic films. It is lighter than lamé, does not tarnish, and is strong enough for complex weaves, facilitating new metallic fabrics.
