Issey Miyake used coated linen to create the pleats seen here. Pleating is a recurrent theme for Miyake. In his Pleats Please collection, he began pleating with polyester. As Miyake explains, “I spent a long time studying the different ways of folding a garment. I finally discovered that the appearance of a cloth totally changes depending on the way it is folded.”
