Princess Niloufer Farhat Begum Saheba of Hyderabad wore this custom sari. As the consort of an Indian prince, Niloufer was required to wear saris. Since she had grown up in France, however, her tastes in color, motif, and embellishment reflected her interest in French couture. In addition to Lanvin, she commissioned saris from Christian Dior and Jacques Griffe.
