This ensemble is an example of a “click suit” worn by male members of the “Raggamuffins,” a street-style subculture during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Fans of “Ragga” music, the “Raggamuffins” developed a unique style of constructing garments, in which denim played a central role. As fashion historian Ted Polhemus explains, “click suits” would be “made of an intricate patchwork of shredded or stone-washed denim decorated with appliqué or rich brocade.”
