Tulle and taffeta
Gift of Mrs. Jessie L. Hills
Object number93.71.4
Although most extant Augustabernard designs were cut and draped on the straight grain, she did employ the bias. One such example is this extraordinary ivory tulle gown, which is an American liscensed copy. It was made from a single length of fabric that was swirled around the body to form a double helix before fanning out at the hem and encircling the wearer in a gossamer pool of fabric.
DescriptionOff white tulle evening dress, sleeveless with V-neck; wide flared skirt with spiral ruffle from hip to train; coordinating off white taffeta slip; Augustabernard American liscensed copy
