The ropes on the jacket and boots of this ensemble were inspired by vintage mountaineering equipment and street style. Designer Virgil Abloh used rope as a metaphor for climbing the corporate ladder. “Streetwear is seen as cheap,” he said. “My goal is to add an intellectual layer to it and make it credible.” Abloh chose to identify his customer as neither black nor white, and so he called his brand Off-White.
