Manish Arora created this dress in reference to the Queen of Hearts and her playing card army in the story Alice in Wonderland. It was part of a window display for the Parisian department store Printemps that celebrated the 2010 release of Tim Burton’s film adaptation of the book. Whereas the first authorized color illustrations of Alice showed her in yellow, the pervasive image of Alice in blue can be linked to Disney’s 1951 animation of the story. This 2015 version was custom-made for The Museum at FIT exhibition Fairy Tale Fashion (2016).
