This suit was heavily altered for maternity wear during the late 1950s. Although only the sleeves remain untouched, the Jacques Fath label was prominently sewn back into place inside the jacket. Fath’s original design, approximately 5 years old at the time of its alteration, had likely gone out of fashion — yet it remained useful to or beloved by its wearer.
