Nkhensani Nkosi of Stoned Cherrie designed this bricolage, hand-beaded gown expressing Johannesburg’s diverse style. She created Stoned Cherrie in 2000 because “there weren’t any South African afro-urban brands . . . no local aesthetic.” Forecaster Dion Chang explains, “Before that, styles were polarized . . . All of a sudden, Stoned Cherrie was able to speak to everybody.”
