This silk jersey evening sheath clings to the body like a bejeweled second skin. Metallic gold sequins capture and reflect light, illuminating the female form. The mock turtleneck references classic sportswear, and the cut of the short sleeve brings to mind men's T-shirts. The sumptuous, bright yellow ribbon tied at the waist is double-faced silk satin, with self-fringe. Norman Norell's style was clean and spare, yet ultra-feminine and luxurious. His "mermaid" dresses are legendary classics: sequined, slinky sheaths, plain, or trimmed in sable or feathers, always luxurious and always simple, with a flair of drama.
