Judith Leiber
Date: 1921 - 2018
Biography: Born in Budapest, where she mastered handbag design and construction, Judith Leiber moved to New York in 1947, and opened her own company in 1963. Leiber is known for her fine craftsmanship and for elaborate, colorful, and meticulous designs. Minaudieres, metal purses ornamented with Swarovski crystals, are her trademark design. Leiber’s first minaudiere was “Chatelaine” and it debuted in 1967.
