Designers responded to the growing simplicity of women’s fashions by turning their attention to accessories. The 1960s also witnessed the emergence of menswear-inspired accessories. Fabrics such as glen plaid and houndstooth were central to this trend and could give an element of daring to an otherwise conservative garment.
