After the first World War, tweed became the great social leveler of casual and sports clothes for men in Great Britain. By the 1930s, tweed suits and jackets were worn for country daywear, golf, hunting and fishing, and leisure hiking. The Henry Poole tweed Norfolk jacket, with its bellows pockets, reinforced vertical straps, and belt, is a classic example of the country genre.
