French, founded 1914

Many of Gabrielle Chanel’s original designs have remained important to the label. She made her first quilted bags in the late 1920s, but the most famous version, which features quilted leather and a chain strap, was introduced in 1955. The bag’s basic style remains identifiable, but it continues to be reinterpreted.
