Norman Norell was known for fine tailoring, expensive ready-to-wear, and understated, discreet elegance. By lining a coat with gold sequins, Norell engaged in a kind of “stealth” luxury before the term was invented. A similar object is in the collection of the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
