Salvatore Ferragamo's shoes featured a distinctive blend of theatricality and comfort. His stiletto heels were renowned for comfort - despite their vertiginous appearance. This duality is not surprising. Ferragamo had his first great success creating bespoke footwear for the elite of silent era Hollywood, where he learned how to produce glamorous, opulent styles that could withstand the rigors of the long hours of shooting.
