Jeanne Lanvin was known for her artful use of embellishment, manipulating and layering materials in innovative ways. She used a sequin pattern to add shine, texture, and weight to this light-as-air dress. Each circular element consists of a set of stacked sequins in graduated sizes, attached with embroidery that resembles an asterisk. This added tactile dimension is decorative but also holds the sequins in place.
