Colorful, often patterned, knit sweater and skirt sets were commonly worn as golf attire during the 1930s. The New York Times reported in 1938 that “golf seems to be more universal than ever.” In terms of dress, there was no single dominant style. “Each woman selects a distinctly individual costume,whose type is influenced by her own taste, her figure, and naturally, by the class of club where she intends to play.”
