Italian, 1880 - 1944

Medium: Black printed silk velvet with silk cord and glass
Date: c. 1917
Country: Italy

Multiple shades of gold metallic pigment create Gallenga’s unique ombré effect. Gallenga was principally a painter, but her interest in textiles and admiration for Fortuny’s work inspired her own creations. Both designers were influenced by early Renaissance artwork and were devoted to fine craftsmanship.
