“The short slip was born of short wartime skirts; [it] is still a fashion,” explained Vogue in 1946. This example was worn with a matching pair of panties, hidden just beneath the slip’s hem. The set is adorned with Schiffli lace, an embroidered, machine-made material that is still used for lingerie today.
