Jon Weston attended FIT and designed this gown for his 1955 graduation show. Audrey Smaltz modelled it, then wore it again in a 1961 Ebony advertisement. Weston struggled with fashion industry discrimination and had financial difficulties during the 1960s, but persevered to establish a successful studio on Seventh Avenue by the 1970s.
