Label Text:Rei Kawakubo’s off-kilter designs had become incredibly influential by the late 1990s. Writing about her fall 1997 collection, Vogue noted, “Kawakubo’s take on pattern making is a send-up of the way clothes are made . . . her exploration of rough-hewn craftsmanship for Comme des Garçons manages to appear complex and naïve at the same time.”
