During the 1950s, social factors in the US, such as post-WWII economic growth, a cultural conservatism that emphasized gendered social roles, and white flight from diversifying cities into suburbs contributed to the ideal of the nuclear single-family home. While women were expected to cook most meals in the kitchen, barbecuing was a distinctly male hobby performed in the stereotypically-male outdoor sphere. These ideas are embodied in this shirt and apron set emblazoned with BBQ motifs.
