DescriptionStylized platform gillies in Bruce tartan silk twill with toecap, counter, and heel in black patent leather with pinked edges; platform sole integral with vamp, exaggerated high heel; black cotton shoelace over open throat
Label Text:Extreme platforms were integral to several of Vivienne Westwood’s collections of the 1990s. This example resembles a pair of Scottish ghillies worn for highland dancing, but the towering heels and patent leather add a fetishistic quality. The shoes were designed for Westwood’s Anglomania collection, which underscored her respect for—and subversion of—traditional British styles.
