Label Text:“Deep Country Clothes” was a specialty line created by fashion designer Elizabeth Phelps during the 1950s. Designated as “occupational leisure-wear,” the line was aimed at the fashionable housewife. This label was one of many that attempted to align denim with the lifestyle of postwar suburbia.
