Label Text:The striking use of color in this evening dress — conservative navy blue offset with a splash of shocking pink — illustrates King’s motto of “cautious daring.” King and her contemporaries frequently used strong colors, a fact often overlooked today because photographic images from the 1930s are predominately black and white.
